Infrastructure Virtualisation Migration Specialist – VMware to Hyper-V

Type: Contract – initial 12 months

About the Role

As the Infrastructure Virtualisation Migration Specialist you will lead the evaluation and potential migration of the on-premises virtualisation platform from VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V.

This role involves designing and deploying a Hyper-V based virtualisation cluster, assessing its suitability, and initiating a strategic migration of workloads. You’ll work closely with internal infrastructure experts and vendor partners to ensure a seamless transition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and evaluate an on-prem Hyper-V virtualisation cluster
• Assess Microsoft-based solutions, including Azure Stack HCI
• Lead the migration of workloads from VMware to Hyper-V
• Analyse existing infrastructure and recommend optimal architecture
• Address challenges related to hyperconverged storage (e.g. vSAN)
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors

You will have:

• Demonstrated experience migrating workloads between VMware and Hyper-V
• Deep understanding of Hyper-V deployment options and Azure Stack HCI
• Familiarity with hyperconverged storage and Microsoft alternatives
• Strong analytical and architectural design skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
