Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex mechanical engineering and capital works projects. This role will oversee projects across the full lifecycle-from planning and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover-ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who has delivered asset replacement, plant upgrades, infrastructure improvements, or other complex mechanical engineering projects within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of mechanical engineering and capital works projects.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, and resources.
- Deliver projects involving mechanical plant, equipment upgrades, asset renewals, and infrastructure improvements.
- Prepare business cases, project plans, technical documentation, and procurement specifications.
- Manage procurement activities, contracts, consultants, and contractors.
- Coordinate construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
- Prepare and manage regulatory submissions and project approvals.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, WHS requirements, and relevant legislation.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, regulators, and key stakeholders.
- Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement and promote a strong safety culture across project teams.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to project team members where required.
About You:
Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer with a proven track record of delivering complex engineering projects in large, asset-intensive environments.
Key skills Required:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Extensive experience managing complex mechanical engineering or capital works projects.
- Experience delivering projects involving mechanical plant, critical asset replacement, equipment upgrades, or infrastructure improvements.
- Strong project management experience using PMBOK or equivalent methodologies.
- Demonstrated contract and contractor management experience.
- Experience managing construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Experience preparing and managing regulatory submissions and approvals.
- Strong understanding of WHS, engineering compliance, and risk management.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and influence stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and delivering successful project outcomes.
